Weekly Photo Challenge: Monument (II)
“The site is unique, with a platoon of cast bronze boots positioned as though marching. A solitary pair of boots is stationed at the foot of the POW/MIA flag, and an eternal flame burns continuously.”
I was very moved by the simple but impressive Veterans Memorial Walk in O’Fallon, Missouri. The memorial honors all veterans past and present. It consists of five marble monoliths for each branch of the military, an eternal flame, and 64 pairs of boots. One pair of boots is noticably missing from the formation and is represented in the POW/MIA flag
This short video will tell you a little more:
The Memorial is located at the intersection of Interstate 70 and TR Hughes Blvd (Belleau Creek Road).
