I have loved photography for over 30 years. My first “real” camera as an adult was a Minolta XG7 and I thought I was in heaven! Fifteen years later, I bought my first autofocus Canon and then digital came on the scene. My first digital camera was a $500 3mp Kodak and, again, I thought I was in heaven. Then came my Canon EOS 10D and now my Canon EOS 50D. I’m still in heaven. Now I couple my love of photography with my love of multimedia and graphic design (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash and Premiere). I am a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals and have attended the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Forensic Digital Imaging Training.
I can’t wait to get a digital camera. Much later I plan to get a DSLR camera. I’m using a cell phone and the picture quality just cannot compare to an actual good camera. Can’t wait!
I have a Canon EOS 50D which is the second Canon EOS that I’ve bought, my first was a 10D. I still use both of them depending on what I’m doing (like riding on the back of our motorcycle, that means take my old one). The cost for these digital SLRs have definitely come down, I paid $1500 for the body alone when the 10D came out about ten years ago, but less than that for the whole kit (lens included) when I bought the 50D. The quality of the cameras on phones (except for my cheap phone’s camera) has gone up so much though that it looks like it works well for what you do. Your pictures look good.
Thanks.

Thanks. I enjoyed what I had a chance to read and I’d like to read more. You sound as though you have crammed a whole lot of living into your less than 50 years.
Gotta be done, right? Life is short enough as it is 😀
Thanks for stopping by and interestingly enough we lived in Bridgeton Missouri many years ago and I remember going to St. Charles to shop. I love photography and try to improve my skills but I have miles to go. 🙂
Just goes to show you how small the world actually is. My grandmother lived in Overland for many, many years. Did you go to Northwest Plaza Mall? It was the “in” thing back in the 70s.
Oh my gosh yes – Northwest Plaza Mall was definitely the place to go. I worked in the contracts department for McDonnell Douglas and on Saturday we always ate chocolate chip pancakes at Perkins on the Rock Road. 🙂
My first digital was a kodak too.. a 3.2 mp.. it took some of the best photos. I still have it in the cupboard. Couldn’t bring myself to part with it.. Now I’ve upgraded to a Nikon D610 but will always have a soft spot for my Kodak 🙂
That Minolta looks familiar, I think because we used to sell them in the camera store I once worked at. Ah, the nostalgia for the days of film!
I can’t say that I miss a film camera except for developing and printing my own black and white photos. But I love the freedom of the digital.
