Being situate in the Mississippi Flyway, each year we are treated to Eagles who migrate south along the flyway and roost in the trees along the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. We were checking the harbors in the Mississippi River in Portage des Sioux when this young eagle flew by and perched in a tree about 40′ from our car.
Shortly after he sat down in the tree, the Eagle was joined by a large blackbird. The blackbird, who was one of a flock, objected to the eagle encroaching on his territory.
The blackbird seemed to taunt the Eagle which stood up to take flight after the blackbird.
The Eagle stretching his wings to take flight.
