The grandeur of the interior of the Cathedral Basilica in St. Louis, Missouri is unsurpassed. The construction began in 1903 and work has continued on portions of the inside periodically throughout the twentieth century. On January 27, 1999, Pope John Paul II presided over a service of Evening Prayer at the Cathedral Basilica, the final religious service of the Pope’s history making trip to North America.
